"Every Garden can have that WOW factor,

but sometimes it needs a little help to create it”

At Coleman's Associates we specialise in transforming your existing garden to become the envy of friends and neighbours.  We can help you to create something special and turn your garden into that extra outdoor living room that works for you.  From the smallest of gardens to large estates we can help.  If you need to landscape your garden for a house sale we can help with that too.  It is always worth considering the garden if you are considering selling.  A landscaped garden can add thousand's to the value of a home and can be the key to a successful fast sale.

Designing and Planning is a Key Factor

Designing a garden requires a multitude of skills as there are many factors to consider before you begin.  All professionally trained Horticulturalists can produce a design sketch and will commit their time and expertise from day one to consult with the client and ensure the design is satisfactory.  Instant progress is possible by someone picking up a spade and this may seem productive but that route is unlikely to reach a satisfactory end result.  A garden is part of your property and you would not make alterations to a house without a design sketch, the garden is just as much a part of your property.  The time and money spent on a design for your garden is money well spent.  Some of the items to consider in a design will include:

  • the soil and local climate
  • the orientation of the property and garden
  • the prevailing winds
  • any existing plants or garden features
  • the clients garden knowledge and ability
  • the complexity or simplicity of design
  • what the clients wants to achieve in the space
  • the clients budget

Consultation is Time Well Spent

If you engage us to assist you we will take time to consult with you fully over your requirements and expectations before producing a plan.  The following summary may help clarify your thoughts and requirements:

  • Do you want colour in the garden?
  • Do you like evergreens?
  • Do you want to encourage wildlife and birds?
  • Do you want social space, Patio/BBQ
  • Do you have children, pets or grandchildren that visit?
  • Do you have sporting interests?
  • Do you like lawns?
  • Do you need to plan for the retirement?
  • Do you have a scheme or theme idea?

Engaging with Your Design

We encourage all our clients to take ownership of their design and their space.  It's your garden, engage with it, enjoy the space and take pride in the achievement.  We will provide advice and assistance to the level of our clients individual contract.  In some cases this may be the delivery of the design and plan only, for others this may mean assisting them to carry out the plan themselves.  Alternatively, the client may require the plan taken right through to a full finished landscape job.  David Coleman Associates has a variety of professionals and contractors that can be called upon as and when required.

Our Travel Zone

We would love to say Scotland, but that's not practical.  In these days of environmental issues and economical costs, time and distance are a factor in costing any project.  The size of the project could have a bearing on the distance we could cover.  Being based in Aberfoyle in Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park we would prefer our work to be within a radius of around 50 miles from the Trossachs (Aberfoyle), basically Central Belt area.  This area is sensible for us and economic for the majority of our clients.  We may consider travel outwith this area for larger garden design contracts or specific sports contracts by agreement.  If you are outwith the Central Belt we may still be able to help you.  Outwith our immediate group of Associates we do have colleagues and friends in other areas of the Uk and may be able to put you intouch with Professionals in your area.  Our contacts range from Cornwall to London to the Midlands.  Feel free to phone and ask.

Our Terms

It would be most helpful in the first instant if a photo could be included in your email enquiry, along with some basic information on the size of the project.  Please include a contact phone number.  Any enquiry will be followed up by phone for an exploratory discussion.  To that stage is free.  Should you wish to engage our services thereafter a retainer of a non-refundable sum will be required and will be based on the project .  The retainer, to be paid in advance and normally £275 will cover the costs of an initial site visit, Professional Consultantion and preliminary scheme design and estimates.  On contracts of £5,000 and over the £275 payment will be deducted from the final bill.  To find out more please complete the form on the contact us page or phone David Coleman on 01877 389171.

In the event of the proposed design and estimate being acceptable and the client engaging our services to the next stage a timetable to proceed can be agreed.  At this stage it is likely that a 50% payment will be required when materials, plant and equipment arrive on site.  The remainder to be paid on completion.

ALL Horticultural materials, whether plants, turf, gravels bark, top soil or lawncare material will be suppied from approved growers and material suppliers of the Horticultural industry.
